ABC Warriors - Khronicles of Khaos & Hellbringer.

Written by Pat Mills & Tony Skinner, illustrated by Kevin Walker.

Synopsis:
A load of big sentient and slightly insane robots kill things, and it is funny.

Review:
Firstly, the artwork is bloody excellent. There are some gorgeous landscapes, aliens that can make you feel sorry they're going to die in hideous ways just by glancing at them, and some cool big chunky robots, all of which are beautiful to look at.

The stories aren't bad, either. In Khronicles of Khaos, the ABC warriors are collecting heads to offer to the goddess of chaos, which gives them a great excuse (like they need one) to kill some standard annoying people. I especially liked the priest. In Hellbringer, which was a little more plot heavy, in that there was evidence of a plot, they had to reform, after going their separate ways, and destroy the evil empire.

Some great running jokes, and the personalities of the robots are much more realistic and complex than most human characters you come across. In fiction, generally, as well as in the book, that is.

A few complaints. For one thing, you can tell this was written by blokes. Some bizarre crap about all females being attuned with chaos because of a link with the cycles of the moons, or something. Must only happen on planets with three moons. Also, the Maras excepted Morrigun as a female, and didn't attack her. First, she's a robot. Having tits welded to your chassis doesn't make you female. Second, if this is a savage warrior culture, accepting and welcoming fifty percent of strangers solely on the grounds of their gender sounds like a good way to get yourself wiped out. No wonder they're nearly extinct.

Oh, and one last thing. Don't do what I did and read this while you're in the middle of reading Lord of the Rings. It's a little disconcerting...

Really the last thing this time. This was a good review. If it didn't come across as such, I apologise.
