Synopsis:
The evil Telmarines have invaded Narnia, and are suppressing all the old ways of life. Prince Caspian, who's kinda supposed to be King, 'cept that his evil uncle is currently being the Lord Protector, wants to be nice to the old Narnians when he becomes King. Then his aunt has a baby, and he has to run away because his uncle wants to kill him. He gets forty feet from the castle walls, then gets hit on the head by a tree.
Review:
Er... You remember in The Horse and His Boy where I said there weren't any other countries mentioned apart from Narnia, Archenland and Calormen? Well, I forgot about Telmar. Sorry (Well, my first copy of this book came to a tragic end when I was about nine, and I haven't read it since).
Anyway, this one's okay. I got a pissed off with the 'black dwarves are bad, red dwarves are good, and you can tell the Hag's evil because she's really ugly' ness of it. The bit in the middle, with Susan and Lucy running off with Aslan and drinking copious amounts of wine while their brothers and Caspian actually fight the evil people was a bit trippy. There are lots of talking trees in this one, which is good, because I always wanted to meet a tree. Although the final big battle being won by the forces of Good because the forces of Evil were frightened of some trees seems like a bit of a copout. It reminded me a bit of the end of the Dominion War arc on DS9. Not that that's relevant in any way...
One thing that scared me a little, I thought I could only remember the TV series for the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, but reading the other books, especially this and Voyage of the Dawn Treader, I can hear the actors saying the lines... I think they might have made TV series' from all of them. Except possibly the Last Battle, which would be a tad tricky...
