A small group of people are invited to a cinema for a special viewing of a new horror film. Whilst in the lobby a silly woman mucks about with a display mask and scratches her face. The movie starts and it tells the story of a group of idi... sorry teenagers, who find the lost works of Nostradamus which tells of the coming of the Demons (smart ass know it all) anyway, in the film they find a mask, and one of them ends up scratching themselves on it (I bet you can't guess what happens next!!!!) In the film the scratchee turns into a horrible demon type thing and at the exact same time so does the woman (you know the one who got scratched earlier... keep up!)
Now, of course, all hell breaks out and the people in a mass oh-shit-it's-a-killer-demon-thing type panic run to the various exits only to find they've been walled up... bit of a bitch under the circumstances.
So as more and more people are turned into nasty blood thirsty demons, the survivors fight for their lives.
On a side note the film they were watching was fucking crap!
Review:
The best way to describe this film is Dario Argento. Yup, the master of obscure Italian horror is in part responsible for this not too shabby film.
As a fan of most horror this film was an hour and a half's worth of sheer bliss for me. It has some of my favourite points. Nasty monsters, lots of gore and annoying luvvy duvvy teens being mutilated in the most inventive ways.
By far the best thing about this is the soundtrack. I have no idea (or just couldn't be arsed to find out) who the music was done by, but when you have a rocking heavy metal song playing over a large group of people fleeing down various corridors with nasty monsters behind them, you can't help but headbang.
The major downer in my humble view is when you see the actual "Demon". It ruins the magic. This, however, is beaten in the sequel when the Demons have changed into small muppets that rip out of the body.
Don't ya just love weird shit?
