Reflections.

By Bert.

High above the houses of Crystal Tokyo, a lone caped figure stood silhouetted against the pale moon.

He looked down at the city below, not focusing on any one thing, merely letting his eyes wander, as he was deep in thought.

Deep in his mind a voice spoke.

"You can't deny your feelings," it said.

"But what if they're wrong," he replied out loud.

He looked up at the starry sky, which winked back at him. For the briefest moment he thought he saw a face form in the stars, but then it was gone.

He shook himself and cursed for being so foolish. He had a destiny to fulfil and it didn't matter what he wanted, it had to be fulfilled.

"What if you want something else?" spoke the voice.

"What I want doesn't matter," he replied.

"It's all that matters."

He looked again at the sprawling city below him, it's lights twinkling like the stars. His eyes trailed over the buildings, as if searching for something.

"Don't deny it," insisted the voice.

He looked around again and then leapt from the building top, his cloak trailing behind him.

In his room, Andrew pulled on his pin-striped pyjama shirt and sat on the edge of the bed. He looked around the room and sighed. It sometimes got lonely being here on his own.

"All you need is a Prince Charming," said a voice in his mind.

Andrew smiled at the idea.

"Would be nice," he mused.

He looked across to the mirror on the wardrobe, and gasped. Relected in it was a caped figure in a mask, holding a red rose.

Andrew spun around to face the window that the mirror reflected.

There was nothing there.

Slowly he got up and went to the window.

Lying on the window ledge was a single red rose...

The end.
